About Us
The green hydrogen revolution is underway and the team at IðunnH2 is working on developing the supply chains required to put this clean, green gas to use, both in Iceland and globally. All feasible solutions need to be implemented in order to fight the climate crisis, and Iceland’s comparative advantage for commercial-scale hydrogen production makes it the ideal solution for IðunnH2 to focus on.
IðunnH2 was established in the fall of 2020 by Audur Nanna Baldvinsdóttir and Gylfi Már Geirsson. Gylfi and Nanna met at Landsvirkjun, the National Power Company of Iceland, where they worked in the business development team. They are experienced and well-connected experts on the unique Icelandic energy landscape. IðunnH2 provides superior consulting services in PPAs and site selection, in addition to the project development work. IðunnH2 is committed to realizing the objectives of our clients, by understanding our clients’ needs and then surpassing them.
IðunnH2‘s project development activities are user-centric, focusing on the supply chain development needed in order to put hydrogen to use. We are driving positive change by leveraging the unique situation in Iceland to get climate-friendly projects up and running as quickly as possible. We analyse, plan, and implement hydrogen solutions, all while creating and fostering the partnerships needed to get such multi-faceted projects realised.

Auður Nanna Baldvinsdóttir
CEO
Co-founder and CEO, Nanna Baldvinsdóttir, is a power economist with decades of experience in Iceland’s energy sector, most recently as Business Development Lead on Hydrogen at the National Power Company of Iceland. She has been a prominent voice in Iceland’s energy transition, serving as Chairman of Iceland’s Green Energy Alliance and the Working Group on the Energy Transition at the Federation of Utilities. She currently chairs Iceland’s Association of Hydrogen and E-Fuel producers.
Ásgerður Ágústsdóttir
Office Manager
Ásgerður Ágústsdóttir is an experienced manager of accounts, procurement processes and other administrative duties for large-scale producers in Iceland. She spent 16 years at the National Power Company of Iceland, where she worked in a variety of positions, included procurement, customs, accounts payable and a number of other support roles. Prior to joining the National Power Company, she was in procurement, customs and import/export at RioTinto Alcan in Iceland (then Alusuisse).
Gylfi Geirsson
Co-Founder
Co-founder Gylfi Geirsson was Business Development Lead on power purchase agreements and power procurement at Iceland’s National Power Company prior to co-founding IðunnH2. Gylfi was in shipping before he joined Landsvirkjun, he was Senior Manager at Eimskip Shipping in the United States, Canada and Iceland.
Jón Steinar Garðarsson Mýrdal
CTO
Jón Steinar Garðarsson Myrdal, CTO, has over 15 years experience working on research and innovation in the field of energy transition. With focus on electrolysis, hydrogen storage, lithium-based batteries and energy system design. He finished his PhD from the Technical University of Denmark in 2013 and has since lead the participation of several organizations in number of international research projects. Jón Steinar has created models for assessing national and regional energy demand for full energy transition across all sectors.
Sigurður Ragnarsson
Chairman
Sigurður Ragnarsson has over 25 years’ experience in managing both companies and large projects. He was Managing Director of one of Iceland’s largest consulting firms, Línuhönnun (now EFLA) and has served as CEO of Iceland’s largest building contractor, ÍAV, since 2016. He has served on the boards of numerous companies. Sigurdur is Iceland’s only IPMA-A certified project manager and has project managed a long list of outstanding and complex projects, including Harpa Concert Hall. He is Vice-Chairman of the Federation of Icelandic industries and is also on the board of the Confederation of Icelandic Enterprise. He is well connected in Icelandic business and has an extensive network abroad.
